When We Seek a Response
When a story contains significant criticism, allegations, serious factual disputes, or materially adverse claims about a person, organization, or institution, we aim to seek comment before publication whenever it is practical and appropriate to do so.
Seeking a response helps ensure accuracy, fairness, and completeness. It does not grant the subject of a story editorial control over reporting or publication decisions.

Information to Include in a Reply or Correction Request
If you are responding to published or pending coverage, please provide the article headline or URL, the specific statement you dispute, the factual basis for your objection, any supporting documentation, and your preferred contact information for follow-up communication.
Detailed factual information is generally more helpful than broad denials. Identifying specific inaccuracies, omissions, or contextual concerns allows our editorial team to review the matter more effectively.
Post-Publication Responses
Individuals or organizations that believe published content is inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading may contact our newsroom for review. Depending on the circumstances, a response may result in a clarification, correction, update, editor's note, follow-up coverage, or no change where reporting remains supported by the available evidence.
Policy Now may publish or summarize a substantive response when doing so materially contributes to readers' understanding of the issue or dispute.
What This Policy Does Not Guarantee
A request for a right of reply does not guarantee publication of a full statement, removal of accurate reporting, or advance review and approval of editorial content by the subject of a story.
It does mean that requests will be reviewed carefully and evaluated against available evidence, editorial standards, and our corrections and accountability processes.
Legal and Sensitive Matters
Reporting involving legal proceedings, regulatory matters, allegations of misconduct, or other reputationally sensitive issues may require additional care in the outreach and review process. Our newsroom seeks to document relevant response efforts as part of its editorial record.
