DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — A helicopter belonging to the world’s largest oil firm crashed in Saudi Arabia on Sunday morning killing all 14 on board, the Saudi Ministry of Energy said.
The tragedy happened about 6 a.m. in Ras Tanura and all those deceased were Saudi nationals, the statement claimed. An investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched.
The helicopter was owned by Aramco, the oil giant majority-owned by Saudi Arabia.
The ongoing battle in Iran has caused a rush for oil supply and pricing for Aramco. The company said it has diverted some oil exports to a pipeline to circumvent the Strait of Hormuz which has been blocked after Iran claimed control of the waterway.
